On May 9, 2024, on Bright Thursday, after the Divine Liturgy, the rector of the St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York, Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov, served a prayer service of thanks to the Lord God for granting victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
In the evening of the same day, in the refectory hall of the cathedral, parishioners were shown a viewing of the Russian feature film “The First Oscar,” which tells about the work of Soviet documentarians during the Great Patriotic War.
On May 12, 2024, after the Sunday Divine Liturgy, a festive concert of Sunday School students was held in the cathedral refectory, at which children sang songs and poems from the war years. The presenters of the concert told the audience about the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church during the Great Patriotic War.
A photo exhibition was opened in the premises of the cathedral, telling about the contribution of the Russian Orthodox Church to the cause of the Great Victory.
In addition, photographs of relatives of front-line soldiers provided by parishioners and clergy of the cathedral were exhibited.
An exhibition of children's books dedicated to the Great Patriotic War opened in the cathedral library.
