On June 25, 2024 in the refectory hall of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York, at the weekly youth meeting, held on Tuesdays, a screening of the feature film: ”We Played the Gardener...", dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, was screened for all that assembled. This event was timed to coincide with the annual: "Day of Remembrance and Sorrow" on June 22. This is the day on which the beginning of the war (WWII) is remembered.
The screening took place as part of the XIII International Patriotic Festival "Borys Kotsenko Presents". The film is directed by Maxim Kuznetsov.
This film is an interesting and historic combination of unique and rare documentary footage of the Great Patriotic War interwoven with a story, about the fate of a little girl who lost her parents, that were front-line fighters, and participated in the work of a local military hospital. The plot is based on the memories of a real person.
The film made a deep impression on the audience, who express their sincere gratitude to its author and the organizers of the screening.
