On September 8, 2024, after the Sunday Divine Liturgy and on September 10, after the all-night vigil on the eve of the feast of the Beheading of John the Baptist, a presentation of the book for parents and teenagers, “Encyclopedia of Independence” by Vitaly Bogdanchikov, took place in the refectory hall of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York.
The book explains the harmfulness of addiction to alcohol, drugs and gambling, suggests ways to prevent such teenage addictions within the family and offers professional advice from specialists on identifying problems in teenagers and helping them in the early stages of addiction.
The book has received many positive reviews from representatives of various Russian and international public organizations and medical institutions.
Its presentation was timed to coincide with the church-wide Day of Sobriety, which is celebrated annually on September 11, the day of the Beheading of John the Baptist.
After the presentation, the author of the book, Vitaly Bogdanchikov, answered questions from those gathered.
