On April 17, 2025, on the evening of Thursday of Holy Week, the traditional Matins of Good Friday with the reading of the so-called Twelve Passion Gospels was celebrated at St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York.

During the service dedicated to the suffering of the Savior and His death on the Cross, the clergy, standing in the middle of the church in front of the image of the Crucifixion of Christ, read twelve passages from the Gospel, which narrate these events, which are most important for the life of all mankind.

The matins were led by the rector of the cathedral, Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov. He was assisted by the acting chancellor of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, Hegumen Nikodim (Balyasnikov), and Protodeacon Igor Panachev.
