On April 24, 2025, the rector of the St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral, Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov, took part in the ceremony of presenting commemorative medals for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War to veterans living in New York.
The event was organized by the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in New York.
At the request of the organizers, Archpriest I. Vyzhanov spoke to those gathered.
Among the veterans were several who had crossed the 100-year mark. One of them, 103-year-old Leonid Borisovich Rosenberg, chairman of the American Association of World War II Veterans, gave a welcoming speech.
