On May 11, 2025, an exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War opened in the premises of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York.
The exhibition, prepared by the wife of the cathedral's rector, Alla Vyzhanova, tells of the contribution of the Russian Orthodox Church to the Great Victory, showing the fates of many specific people. Some of them, being priests, carried out their service during the war, others found faith at the front and then took holy orders.
Unlike last year's format, this year's exhibition is supplemented with materials about the historic meeting on September 4, 1943 between I. V. Stalin and the Locum Tenens of the Patriarch, Metropolitan Sergius (Stragorodsky), Metropolitans Alexy (Simansky) of Leningrad and Nikolay (Yarushevich) of Kyiv. The result of this meeting was some relief from the oppression of the Soviet government towards the Russian Orthodox Church.
In addition to the historical exhibition, the premises of the St. Nicholas Cathedral also host an exhibition of photographs of war participants who are relatives of parishioners. This year, portraits of those whose relatives they are are displayed next to the photographs of the front-line soldiers.
