On Sunday, September 14, 2025, the 14th Sunday after Pentecost, the beginning of the Indiction and the feast day of the Holy Princes Peter and Fevronia of Murom, Divine Liturgy was celebrated at St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York City. During the service, special prayers were offered from the New Year's hymn service, as well as prayers in honor of the patron saints of marriage—for families, love, and fidelity.
Praying during the Liturgy were teachers and students of St. Nicholas Cathedral's Sunday School, which had resumed classes that day after the summer holidays. Over ninety children have applied to attend Sunday School this academic year. The curriculum is divided into three age groups. In addition to the Law of God and the Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture, the children will also have classes in vocals, fine arts, and Russian language and literature.
After receiving Holy Communion, a prayer service was held for the students, and, as a blessing for academic success, the Sunday School students were sprinkled with holy water. Following the service, a meeting between parents, clergy, teachers, and Sunday School volunteers took place in the cathedral library. Various organizational matters were discussed during the meeting.
