On December 9, 2025, after visiting St. Nicholas Cathedral in Seattle, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, with the blessing of Bishop Theodosius of Seattle, Vicar of the Western American Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, visited the chapel dedicated to St. John of Shanghai, who reposed in the Lord on July 2, 1966, before the miraculous Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "The Sign" during a visit to St. Nicholas Church in Seattle. The chapel was erected on the site of his blessed repose.
His Grace celebrated a moleben (prayer service) to the Most Holy Theotokos and St. John. The service was attended in prayer by the cathedral's keykeeper, Archpriest Vyacheslav Davidenko, and the bishop's personal secretary, Nikolai Trubnikov.
Bishop Matthew congratulated those gathered on the feast day in honor of the "Guide of the Russian Diaspora" and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Bishop Theodosius for the opportunity to offer prayers at this holy site. His Grace thanked Father Keykeeper for the gracious welcome and the shared prayers.
