On December 25, 2025, the feast day of St. Spyridon, Bishop of Trimythous, the Wonderworker, Bishop Matfei of Sourozh, the temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York City, co-served by the cathedral clergy.
After the communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ, a service of glorification was held in honor of St. Spyridon.
At the end of the service, the archpastor addressed those present with a sermon dedicated to the memory of the celebrated saint.
Following the prayers of thanksgiving after Holy Communion, Bishop Matfei performed the rite of the Sacrament of Holy Unction for all who felt the need to receive it during these days of the Nativity Fast. Congratulating the faithful on receiving the healing grace of this great Sacrament, the archpastor thanked everyone for the joy of praying together and asked for prayers for his return journey to London. In turn, he wished everyone God's help in worthily completing the Nativity Fast and meeting the feast of the Nativity of Christ.
In the evening of that day, His Grace Bishop Matfei, accompanied by his secretary, subdeacon Nikolai Trubnikov, departed for London. At John F. Kennedy International Airport, His Grace was seen off by the Acting Chancellor of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, Hegumen Nikodim (Balyasnikov), and the Head of the Chancellery, Priest Mark Rashkov.
