On December 22, 2025, in his office at the Representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in the USA, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada, held a working meeting with the Acting Chancellor, Hegumen Nikodim (Balyasnikov), and the Head of the Chancellery, Priest Mark Rashkov.
In his address, His Grace briefly summarized the activities of the chancery in 2025, paying particular attention to the events held during the past year in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the repose of Patriarch Tikhon of Moscow and All Russia, Saint Tikhon. Throughout the jubilee year, concelebrations were held at a high level with the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, at St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York, St. Tikhon’s Monastery in Pennsylvania, and in Anchorage, where the archpastor and Fr. Mark Rashkov represented the Russian Orthodox Church in the celebrations for the glorification of Righteous Matushka Olga of Alaska.
Bishop Matthew also highlighted the importance of the 2025 Congress of Clergy and Laity of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, where together they honored the memory of Saint Tikhon and discussed current issues concerning the life and activities of the parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate in the United States of America. His Grace reviewed the progress in implementing the resolutions adopted at the Congress and once again expressed his profound gratitude to all the clergy, members of parish councils, volunteers, and all faithful children of our Church in the USA for their sincere and diligent service.
The participants of the meeting discussed plans for the upcoming year, including invitations extended to the archpastor to visit a number of parishes marking anniversary and memorial dates in 2026.
On behalf of the Bishop’s Council and the clergy of the cathedral, Hegumen Nikodim expressed filial gratitude to the archpastor for his fruitful work and attentive care for the clergy under his omophorion, and once again congratulated Bishop Matthew on the recent 10th anniversary of his episcopal consecration.
