ХРИСТОС ВОСКРЕСЕ!
Во всем богатстве и многообразии человеческого языка нетболее радостных и желанных для верующего сердца слов, чемэто убедительное свидетельство свершившейся победы жизнинад смертью и добра над злом.
«Христос Воскресе!« – в сем благовестии сосредоточенасокровенная сила надежды и великое упование веры, которымижили люди со времен изгнания из Рая. Жили ожиданиемпрощения, примирения, освобождения – но Господь далнесравнимо больше, ибо по любви Своей «предусмотрел о наснечто лучшее« (Евр. 11:40).
Сын Божий пришел в мір и стал человеком, разделил с нами всетяготы земного бытия и до дна испил чашу страданий, и самуюгорькую из них – чашу смерти. «Муж скорбей и изведавшийболезни« (Ис. 53:3), Он взял на Себя наши грехи, добровольновзойдя на Крест.
Но могла ли смерть удержать Создателя жизни? Могли линенасытные адские бездны поглотить Того, Чьим Словом всеначало быть, что начало быть (Иоан. 1:3)? «Явилась славаБожия во вселенной, – и озарила преисподнюю бездны. Смертьистреблена, рассеяна тьма, врата адовы сокрушены иозарились светом все твари, бывшие прежде во тьме«, –вдохновенно воспевает преподобный Ефрем Сирин победуСпасителя над смертью («Иисус – свет міра«).
Слыхано ли, чтобы смерть возвращала свою добычу? А если ивозвращала, то до времени, чтобы потом снова забрать ее. НоХристос, востав из мертвых, уже не умирает, смерть уже неимеет над Ним власти (Рим. 6:9)! Он, будучи первенцем изумерших (I Кор. 15:20), предваряет и нас на этом пути:«первенец Христос, потом Христовы, в пришествие Его« (IКор. 15:23).
Бог, Воплощением Своим обновивший человеческое естество иисцеливший его от ран греха, ведет нас Воскресением к ещелучшим пажитям. Он не только возвращает людям утраченное,даруя прощение и примирение с Собой, но и усыновляет насСебе через Иисуса Христа (Еф. 1:5) и верующим во имя Егодает власть быть чадами Божиими (Иоан. 1:12) и богами поблагодати.
Вместе с весенним преображением расцветающей природывновь и вновь разлетается по міру удивительная весть оспасении: «Иисуса ищете Назарянина, распятого? Он воскрес,Его нет здесь« (Марк. 16:6). Пуста гробница! Воскрес Господь,как сказал (Матф. 28:6)!
Пасха Христова – неисчерпаемый источник нашей великойрадости – радости, проистекающей от превосходящей всякоеразумение любви Божией к человеческому роду, которой иявлены нам блага видимые и невидимые. Безмерная сила сейжертвенной любви простирается столь далеко, что побеждаетад, отверзает Рай, дарует прощение и подлинную духовнуюсвободу.
«Крепка, как смерть, любовь« (Песн. 8:6), – утверждал богатыймудростью царь Соломон. Но мы, ученики Христовы,убежденно свидетельствуем, что любовь сильнее даже смерти.Она преодолевает время и пространство, низлагает грех имогущество тьмы.
В Царство любви зовет нас Всещедрый Господь – и туда невойти, не имея ее в своем сердце. Простим же друг друга,сбросим оковы взаимных обид и огорчений, примиримся иобнимемся. Окажем милость нуждающимся и утешимскорбящих.
Освящаясь Христом и входя в дивное торжество Пасхи, мыпреображаем окружающий мip нетленным светом Воскресения,вводим его в радость спасения, которого вся Вселеннаяожидает, стремясь к освобождению в свободу славы детейБожиих (Рим. 8:21). Тогда и сама наша жизнь, проходящая вединстве с Господом, становится подлинной Литургией –Литургией поистине космического масштаба, в которой каждоетворение сможет воздать благодарение и хвалу Создателю,восклицая: «Слава Воскресению Твоему, Христе! СлаваЦарствию Твоему! Слава смотрению Твоему, единеЧеловеколюбче!« (тропарь воскресный, глас 1).
В міре множество духовных поисков, но лишь один – Путь,Истина и Жизнь (Иоан. 14:6). Только один Победитель греха исмерти. Лишь Один отверзающий Небеса. Имя Ему – ИисусХристос, и нет ни в ком ином спасения (Деян. 4:11).
Сердечно поздравляя всех с праздником Пасхи, вновь и вновьобращаю к вам жизнеутверждающее и ободряющее на векисвидетельство о том, что

CHRIST IS RISEN!
In all its richness and diversity, the human language knows nowords more joyful and desired for the believing heart than thisoverwhelming testimony to the victory of life over death and goodover evil.
«Christ is Risen!« This good news encapsulates the cherished powerof hope and the great expectation rooted in faith by which peoplehave lived since the expulsion from Paradise. They have livedawaiting forgiveness, reconciliation, and liberation. Yet the Lord hasgranted to us incomparably more, for in His love He has «providedsome better thing for us« (Heb. 11:40).
The Son of God came into the world and became man, He sharedwith us all the burdens of our earthly existence and drank to thebottom the cup of suffering, the most bitter of which was the cup ofdeath. «A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief« (Is. 53:3), Hetook upon Himself our sins by voluntarily ascending the Cross.
Yet could death contain the Creator of life? Could the insatiabledepths of Hades consume the One through Whose Word all thingswere made that were made (John 1:3)? «God’s glory shineth uponthe world and enlighteneth the very depths of the abyss. Death isannihilated, night hath vanished, and the gates of hell are broken.Creatures lying in darkness from ancient times are clothed in light,»Venerable Ephraim the Syrian writes in his «Hymn to the Light,«inspiringly praising the Savior’s victory over death.
Do we know of instances when death ever returned that which itgained? And if it ever returned it, then only until it would take itback again. But Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more;death hath no more dominion over Him (Rom. 6.9)! He, being thefirstfruits of them that slept (I Cor. 15:20), goes before us on thispath, for «Christ is the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s atHis coming« (I Cor. 15:23).
God, Who through His Incarnation renewed human nature andhealed it from the wounds of sin, through the Resurrection leads usto better pastures. He not only returns to people that which theyhave lost, granting them forgiveness and reconciliation with Him;He also adopts us to Himself by Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:5) and to themthat believe on His name gave He power to become the sons of God(John 1:12) and gods by grace.
Along with the spring transformation of nature coming to life, theamazing news of salvation again and again hurtles to every corner ofthe earth: «Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified? He isrisen; He is not here« (Mark 16:6). The tomb is empty! The Lord isrisen, as He said (Matt. 28.6)!
Christ’s Pascha is the inexhaustible fount of our great joy, a joywhich flows from the love of God for humankind, transcending allunderstanding. Through it, all good things, visible and invisible,have been revealed to us. The boundless power of this sacrificiallove extends so far that it vanquishes Hades, opens the gates ofParadise, and grants forgiveness and genuine spiritual freedom.
«Love is strong as death« (Song 8.6), says King Solomon, rich inwisdom. Yet we who are Christ’s disciples testify with convictionthat love is even stronger than death. It overcomes time and space,casts down sin and the power of darkness.
The All-Merciful Lord calls us to the Kingdom of love, yet enter itwe can with only love in our hearts. Let us, then, forgive andembrace one another; let us show charity to those in need andextend consolation to the afflicted.
Being sanctified by Christ and partaking in the wondrous triumph ofPascha, we transform the world around us through the incorruptiblelight of the Resurrection, we bring it into the joy of salvation whichthe whole Universe awaits, striving for the glorious liberty of thechildren of God (Rom. 8:21). It is then that our lives, lived inoneness with the Lord, become a true Liturgy, a Liturgy of trulycosmic proportions in which every created being can renderthanksgiving and praise to the Maker in proclaiming: «Glory to ThyResurrection, O Christ. Glory to Thy Kingdom. Glory to Thydispensation, O only Lover of mankind!« (Troparion of theResurrection, Tone 1).
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondageof corruption into.
In the world there are many spiritual searches, but only one is theWay, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). There is only one Victorover sin and death. There is only One Who opens up the heavens,and His name is Jesus Christ, and neither is there salvation in anyother (Acts 4:11[12]).
From the depths of my heart, I greet you all on the feast of Pascha,and again and again I address you with the life-affirming and ages-old uplifting testimony that
THE LORD IS RISEN INDEED!
