After Sunday services on January 21st, 2024 in the Cathedral refectory, a ground breaking presentation on cancer prevention took place. The presentation was given by, and organized by the Mount Sinai Medical Center, a cathedral neighbor. The presentation and lecture took place in the cathedral refectory hall of St Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral.

This important event was a lecture on the prevention of cancer, in particular lung cancer. These lecture courses that the hospital prepares are specifically designed and tailored for, national communities existing in New York City. The choice of presentation topics is based on statistical data on morbidity in a particular community.

Mr Maksim Plekhov of Mt Sinai Medical Center presented on behalf of the medical center.

At the end of the lecture and presentation, the cathedral rector Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the entire cathedral community and those present, to Mr Plekhov and the medical center. Fr Igor expressed the wish that the mutual good relations that have existed for decades, and cooperation continues, and grows between St Nicholas Cathedral and Mt Sinai Medical Center.
